Finding employment, starting a business or investing in the Philippines
The dream of escaping to a tropical paradise is common to many of us in the west that seek a slower and less demanding lifestyle. From my first visit to
the Philippines I starting thinking about how I might live there one day. As with most people the major thing that held me back was a need to make a living in the Philippines.
Visiting the Philippines once a year for a few weeks really does not let you know what it is like to live here. Much more research is needed. Yet each year many people do come ill
prepared and it often ends in bitter disappointment and frustration.
You have probably read that you can live here cheaply and enjoy a level of personal comfort way beyond what you
could ever expect back home. This is true but at the same time there are many sacrifices or adjustments you will need to make.
Things do not run as efficiently here. While
you are on holiday its easy laugh off such minor things but when you are living here and trying to function on a daily basis it can be very frustrating.
If you are serious about moving
to the Philippines then do as much research as you possibly can. Join all the online forums you can find and read as much as you can.
